A Chinese court ruling on Son Joon-ho (33, Asan FC, Chungnam) was released.
China's ZboCom reported on the 22nd (Korea Standard Time) that Son Joon-ho and Jin Jing-dao's verdict on match manipulation was released online.
Through the ruling, ZboCom explained the post-war relationship to the match-rigging case, which was questioned by Chinese police.
In May 2023, Son was arrested while trying to return home via Hongqiao Airport in Shanghai. Afterwards, the Chinese public security authorities detained him in criminal custody for 37 days, meaning "temporary arrest," and then arrested him on June 18. At that time, Son was charged with "receiving non-state workers." This charge is known to apply to cases where he misuses his duties and receives money at work, not at a government agency.
The Shandong Taishan, where Son was a member of, was involved in a match-fixing scandal, and major players and coaches were arrested. The Chinese Football Association reportedly imposed disciplinary action on the grounds that one of the players who was arrested at the time sent about 200,000 yuan (39.5 million won) to Son.
Son, who denied all charges, was released in March last year. Afterwards, he signed a contract with Suwon FC in June and returned to the Korean stage.
However, the problem arose again when the CFA permanently expelled Son Joon-ho for match fixing in September last year, three months after his return. The CFA punished a total of 61 people for match fixing, and 43 of them, including Son Joon-ho, judged that the level of play was serious and sentenced them to "permanent prohibition of soccer-related activities."
Son Joon-ho held a press conference and claimed that the remittance was not related to match fixing, but the CFA reported Son Joon-ho's permanent expulsion to FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and requested that the disciplinary action be expanded worldwide.
